20th day - 205 miles

Rain again!
After I woke up this morning to nothing but blue sky, Lorenz and I decided to start the day with a good breakfast. By the time we broke camp and went back to the hot spring for some pictures it was 1:00pm and the first clouds appeared in the sky. Soon after, the clouds started to thicken and it got very windy. Rain followed. Lots of it! Once I entered the Yukon Territory and turned into Watson Lake to visit the famous sign forest the sun reappeared for a short time. So I decided to press on to Whitehorse. But the conditions soon worsened and the temperature started to drop quickly. The road was hard to navigate as the wind got stronger and stronger. Fortunately there was a lodge right on top of the Continental Divide and for 80 bucks I got a room and a warm turkey dinner with mashed potatoes, gravy and cranberry sauce. Happy Thanksgiving! Whitehorse will have to wait till tomorrow.

Liard River Hot Springs.

Lorenz from Switzerland. He riding from Alaska to Argentina on his motorcycle.

The natural setting of these hot springs are one of a kind.

A local sport is to endure the heat of the water close to the spring and as a sign to place a rock on the ledge.

The "beta pool" higher up is more serene as bathers prefer the somewhat cooler waters in the "alpha pool" below.

The vegetation is lush. Many plants can only be found here this far north, because of the micro climate the hot springs create.
One of the locals at Liard.
Those antlers must be in the way..

The sign forest in Watson Lake. This is only a very small part of it. There are thousands of sign from all over the world posted and people are bringing new ones everyday. Lots of official german city signs. What gives?

This road never seems to end.

Weather is brewing over the Continental Divide.

My stay for the night. Quit comfortable inside.
