22nd day - 208 miles

Today was an easy day in preparation for what is coming the next couple days. I rode to Fairbanks on a nearly straight part of the Alaska Highway with nothing but great weather. Along the way I stopped in Delta Junction for some grub. The Buffalo Burgers up here are awesome.
Once I checked in I went to an auto parts store and bought a fuel can. Tomorrow I will get onto the Dalton Highway also know as the "Haul Road". This road follows closely the Alaskan Oil Pipeline and ends 500 miles later in Deadhorse. From there one can tour the Arctic Ocean at Prudhoe Bay.
Reservations are made at the Caribou Inn and the required security check to enter the oil fields are on their way. The fuel can is necessary because there is only one fuel stop along the way in Coldfoot. This Highway was build to truck in supplies for the pipeline and the oil operations in the arctic. It is mainly a dirt road and was portrait on TV in the Ice Trucker series on the Discovery Channel.

The "Bates Motel" in Tok.

How would you like to commute on this road everyday?
Remaining ice on Robertson River.

Swan Family on lilly pond.

Wetlands between Tok & Delta Junction.

A Bald Headed Eagle. The American Bird!

Best Burger Joint!! The Buffalo Center Dinner. Delta Junction was previously called Buffalo Center because of the Bisons introduced to this area. The herd counts about 400 today is the largest of the four existing in Alaska.

First view of the Alaskan pipeline.

A six pack of Pacifico, a lime - party!
