27th day - 95 miles & 6 hour ferry

This was my last day on the ocean. After taking a 6 hour ferry boat ride from Whittier across Prince William Sound to Valdez I looked back at the water one last time and said good bye. As usual, it was raining all day and the clouds barely made it above the waterline.
Riding up Thompson Pass from Valdez was quite an experience. Known for being the snowiest place in Alaska (551.5 inches average per year and 62 inches in one day in1955 - both records) it also seemed to be the foggiest. Visibility turned almost zero on the top and only got better as I finally descended into Copper River valley. And guess what - it stopped raining as well.
Soon after, I arrived at the bed & breakfast place where I will stay for the next 3 days to see the Wrangell - St. Elias National Park.

The Coral Princess just landed in Whittier.

Steven from Minnesota. He leaving the harbor today to fish for salmon with a commercial fishing boat. I hope you catch a lot.

Rope on the ferry deck with the Alaskan flag.

Is that the fog bell?

Islands in the Prince William Sound.

A lonely Iceberg floating in the sound.

Where is the sun and how many shades of gray are there?

More ice...

... and even more. Shall I get concerned?

Dense fog on Thompson Pass.

Worthington Glacier.

Copper River Valley.

Straight shoot into the Wrangell Mountain Range.
